Frequently Asked Questions
1. What services do you offer?
I offer overnight stays, dog walking, bathing, airport transportation, mail and newspaper pick up, take the trash cans to the curb, alternate lights and blinds, yard and litter box clean up, dog training and I'd be more than happy to take your dog to the dog park if your dog goes on a regular basis. I have a pretty open mind as far as if anyone has any special requests.
2. What kind of pets do you care for?
I have had many pets and am very experienced in caring for all animals including horses, cats, dogs (large breeds and little guys too), reptiles, most caged kritters and all sizes of birds.
3. What areas do you pet sit in?
I serve Thousand Oaks and the surrounding areas including Westlake Village, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Newbury Park and Oak Park. I also pet sit in the beach areas including Malibu but please call and inquire about that area.
4. Are you licensed, bonded and insured?
Yes. I am licensed through the city and bonded and insured through Pet Sitters Associates. Having insurance and being bonded insures that if anything should happen while you are away, your home and pets are protected. Copies of these documents are available upon request.
5. Can you provide references?
Yes. I have great references from many clients that I have been taking care of for years. References are available upon request.
6. What is the purpose of the initial consultation and what happens from there?
We will set up a convenient time and day for me to come by to meet you and your pets before you leave for your trip. This helps me get your pets routine down and get acquainted with both of you. This is the time to ask questions on both of our parts and to decide if this will work for the both of us. If you do decide this will work, I'll get some information from you including the dates you will be gone, feeding instructions and other important things that need to be done while you are away. This is a great time to get the key as well.
7. How do we pay you?
Payment is accepted before you leave, left in the house after you have left or when you return. I'm okay with all of those options but most of the time payment is received when you return from your trip. This way I can be sure I gave your key back in return of payment. I accept cash and checks only.
8. Do you give medications to pets?
Yes. I have 4 years of veterinary experience and am able to give all meds including insulin shots, fluids, ointments, and regular oral medications. Depending on the case and difficulty, I may ask you if I can have a helper come with me. (My helper is usually my boyfriend Kyle who is also a vet tech.)
9. What happens while we're away?
While you are away, I try to keep to your pet's normal routine as much as possible. This helps keep your pet's stress level lower. I also do all that was requested on our first visit together. Please feel free to give me a call if you want to check up on your pets and home. I'd be more than happy to give you and update.
